My Favourite Book Quotes

quotes

I don’t like just writing up blog award posts and having that as the only post of the day, in case people don’t like reading them, so I decided to add this post today too: My Favourite Book Quotes!

The idea is basically for me to write down some of my favourite book quotes for you guys to see. People’s favourite quotes do tend to show more about their personality, so maybe that will show through this post 🙂

Hopefully this post is interesting to read!

So in no particular order…

So let’s get to it!

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”

I love the infernal devices trilogy, and most of my favourite quotes are about books, so they go hand in hand.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

“We cling to our fairy tales before the price for believing in them becomes too high.”

I don’t know why I love this quote, it’s just always stuck with me. I even included it in my art project last year. I sort of made a collage out of letters so it spelt out the quote all down one page, and when I tweeted about it, Ransom Riggs saw it and tweeted back saying it looked really cool. I was a very happy bunny 😀

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you.”

I know exactly why I love this quote. First – it’s about books. Second…this one my be hard to explain. Basically, I always love the things I see in books. Characters I aspire to be like etc. So this quote saying I have that inside me, which is why I see it…that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Even if I don’t believe it.

A Dance with Dragons by George RR Martin

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies,” said Jojen, “A man who never reads lives only once.”

Every bookworm can relate to this. This is one quote that’s stuck with me since I first read it.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

“You could rattle the stars,” she whispered, “You could rattle the stars, if only you dared.”

This is sort of like a motivational one. Plus Celaena and Nehemia ❤

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

“Most maidens are perfectly capable of rescuing themselves in my experience, at least the ones worth something, in any case.”

Of course a quote from this wonderful book would be in here somewhere. And this quote – empowering ladies all the way!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling

“Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.”

I could choose so many quote from the Harry Potter series, but decided to go with this one. Like I said in my last post, I try to be an optimistic person, and this quote really helps with that.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

“Some things exist in our lives for but a brief moment. And we must let them go on to light another sky.”

I don’t know why I like this one. Maybe because I can relate – but that’s a long story. Good things may be brief, but at least you had it for that small moment.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

“I spent my life folded between the pages of books.
In the absence of human relationships I formed bonds with paper characters. I lived love and loss through stories threaded in history; I experienced adolescence by association. My world is one interwoven web of words, stringing limb to limb, bone to sinew, thoughts and images all together. I am a being comprised of letters, a character created by sentences, a figment of imagination formed through fiction.”

More of a passage than a quote, but I remember reading this paragraph and just falling in love. And unsurprisingly, it’s about books, once again.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

“Don’t feel bad for one moment about doing what brings you joy.”

And finally, I love this quote because it’s just so, so true.

So those are my top 10 favourite quotes!

I do have many others from those books, especially books like Throne of Glass and Harry Potter, but I wanted to make sure none of the quotes involved spoilers.

Are any of these quotes your favourites? Let me know in the comments!

  1. *gasp* So the rattle the stars quote is from Throne of Glass! All this time I thought people were just quoting it from John Silver in Treasure Planet! XD

  2. Love all of these quotes! I just want to capture and memorize each one to think back on at any given moment. I especially love the one from Throne of Glass about rattling the stars. Reading these quotes have given me a sudden urge to make a collage like you said. I’m in an artsy mood. 😀 Great post!

    1. I’ve got most of them memorized just because of how much I love them haha! Although not the one from Shatter Me, since that’s just a huge paragraph :O I’m the same with the Throne of Glass quote – I even made a bookmark with that written on it! And go for it, embrace the creativeness haha 😀
