January Book Haul

January Book Haul

Already this month I’ve gotten a few books, and since I doubt I’ll get any more this month, I’m here doing my January book haul!

And even if I do end up getting more books, I’ll add them to my February book haul – and there will definitely be one next month because it’s my birthday in February 😀

Once again I apologize for the photos not being great. My phone camera isn’t the best but I’m working on it.

But anyway, on with the book haul!

The Lies of Locke Lamora

by Scott Lynch

The Lies of Locke Lamora

I believe this book is an epic fantasy sort of novel, based around a band of thieves with a Robin Hood vibe to it – full of adventure and schemes. Admittedly I don’t know much more  about this book, I just want to give it a try. I think the title drew me in, it has a nice ring to it. This is the first book in The Gentleman Bastard series, and I’ve seen a lot of people adore this book so I hope I do too!

Angelfall

by Susan Ee

Angelfall

This one I bought on a bit of a whim. Here in the UK we have this shop called The Works, which sell random books for just £1.99. And every so often they have books that actually look really interesting – I think my best find there was Red Queen. I’ve seen a lot of people go on about Angelfall, so I thought “why not pick it up if it’s only £1.99???” So I did. And here it is, now added to my collection. From what I know, this book is the first in the Penryn and the End of Days trilogy, and is a mix between fantasy and paranormal romance.

End of Days

by Susan Ee

End of days

Now, this is where the explaining needs to come in. When I saw Angelfall in The Works for just £1.99…I also saw the last book in the same trilogy on the same shelf for just £1. How could I resist if I was buying the first one? And it was so cheap! All I need to do now is buy the second book in the trilogy…bt I think I’ll wait until I read Angelfall before I do that, just to be sure I enjoy the series.

Walking Dead Volume 1

by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore

The Walking Dead Volume 1

Last but not least – and the one I’m probably most excited about – is The Walking Dead Volume 1 graphic novel.  Now, I’m not much of a Zombie story fan (yet). But so many people have recently been getting into the TV show, and I figured there must be some reason people love it so much. Plus every time I go into Waterstones I kept eyeing up this graphic novel collection – which there are LOADS of, by the way. I’ve seen it go up to volume 24, but there may be more than that. And I’ve been tempted for so long to give these graphic novels a go…so I am!

So there we have it! My first haul of 2016!

Have you read any of these books? Or are they on your TBR?

  1. YESSS!!!! The Walking Dead, im currently on volume 9! I love it so much! Such a great series, and yeah there are 24 volumes out but 25 is coming out in Feb I think. But with £10.99 per graphic novel, if I got all 25 it would be like 250 quid :/ but I can’t stop buying them, I love them so much 😀

    1. I know, I hate how graphic novels are more expensive than normal books, especially when you can read them in an hour! But they look too good to resist so I just have to 😀 I hope I enjoy The Walking Dead as much as you do!

  2. This is such a great haul! I read the first few pages of The Lies of Locke Lamora a few months ago and it seems incredible. Its size put me off reading it at that particular time but I will definitely read it soon! I saw Angelfall and End of Days on The Works too… might have to pick those up. Also, welcome to The Walking Dead graphic novels! I haven’t watched the TV show but I just read Vol. 3 and it’s great. Will be reading Vol. 4 soon!

    1. I’ll not be talking The Lies of Locke Lamora yet, but that mainly because I have other books on my TBR first haha! And I’m really looking forward to seeing what I think of The Walking Dead – everyone loves it!
