I got a lot of books this month. A LOT.
But it was my birthday, so I guess it’s excusable?
But I’m not even sorry. My reading material is sorted for a few months now so I’m happy. Plus I’ve been really wanting most of these books for months now, so…yeah.
This post will be long enough on it’s own, so I won’t ramble any longer.
This will be in three sections: books I got before my birthday, ON my birthday, and after.
Let’s jump right in!
Books I got through February
The Sleeping Prince
by Melinda Salisbury
This is the 2nd book in The Sin Eater’s Daughter series, and I’d been waiting so long for it to be released!
I actually got this book at the very end of January because early copies were released in my local Waterstones, but by that point I’d already uploaded my January Book Haul so I decided to just add it to this one.
I’ve already read this one and loved it, so to see my review, click here!

World After
by Susan Ee
This one I bought on a bit of a whim. In my January book haul, I bought Anglefall and End of Days – the 1st and 3rd books in the Penryn & the End of Days series. So obviously I was missing the middle book of the trilogy. And then I found it in The Works for just £2.00, so obviously I had to buy it!
I haven’t read any of this series yet, but I’ve heard a lot about it and hope I will enjoy it just as much as everyone else seems to.

Fairest
by Marissa Meyer
I’ve been wanting this book for a very long time. I got Winter back in December, but I didn’t want to read it until I read Fairest first. So when my lovely boyfriend got it me for Valentine’s day, I was VERY happy indeed.
Again, I’ve already read this one thanks to it being so short, so if you’d like to see the review, click here.
And can I just say, how photogenic is this cover? UGH I love it ❤

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
by Mark Haddon
I got this book purely on the reasoning that everybody who I know that reads, has recommended it to me. And since I want to get into contemporary more, I thought I’d give it a go.
I actually reviewed this one yesterday, so click here to check it out. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this as much as everyone else, but it was still an insightful read, at least.

Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes
Oh look, another one I’ve already read (review here). After seeing the movie trailer, I needed this book. So I got it. Simple as that. I read it the same day it arrived and I’m so glad I did because it’s now one of my favourite books – which is surprising because as I always mention, I’m not that huge a fan of contemporary (but I’m working on it).
Books I received as gifts on my birthday!
Dragonfly in Amber
by Diana Gabaldon
These first three are from my dad, since he let me choose a few out. I read Outlander back in January, and it’s fair to say I became obsessed. And I mean, obsessed. I wouldn’t shut up talking about it. So I chose out the second book in the series, Dragonfly in Amber. I don’t know when I’ll get round to reading this one, since it’s nearly 1000 pages long, but I’m sure when I next want a hefty read, this will be my choice.

The Next Together
by Lauren James
This one has intrigued me for a while. It sounds like a mix between contemporary and historical fiction, if that’s even possible, because I believe it’s a love story about reincarnation. I can’t wait to see if this sort of love story will grab my attention.

Prisoner of Night and Fog
by Anne Blankman
I saw this one a few months ago on Sasha Alsberg’s YouTube channel, and I’ve wanted it ever since. Lately I’ve been really into historical fiction, and that’s exactly what this book is. I spent ages trying to find it in my local Waterstone’s but could never find it, so I just ordered it from Amazon instead. I can’t wait to get into this one!

Am I Normal Yet?
by Holly Bourne
This book and the next were gifts from my very lovely friend Abbie (who blogs over at Wonder in Words). I’d heard of this one from a weekly chat I take part in on twitter called #ukyachat, hosted by Booktuber Lucythereader. Since people kept mentioning it so often, I became intrigued, and now I’m very glad I own a copy!

All the Bright Places
by Jennifer Niven
This second one Abbie chose out for me because she loves this book. Hopefully I’ll get round to reading this soon, so that I can share my thoughts. It’s not like anything I usually read, but since I’m trying to get into contemporary, I thought I’d give it a go. I mean, it’s got to be so well loved for a reason, right?

Salt to the Sea
by Ruta Sepetys
This book is getting all the hype at the moment, and I am so ready to jump on board. Remember me saying I was really into historical fiction lately? Well, that’s why this one is here on the list. My friend Amber got me this one, and she unknowingly got the pretty cover that I love, so that’s great 😀

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
by Michelle Hodkin
Another book that’s been on my TBR for aaaages now, and thanks to my friend Jade, I will finally be able to start this series! A lot of people really love this trilogy, but I don’t know much about it. I just remember it sounding interesting when I read the synopsis all those months ago. So hopefully it will live up to the hype!

Voyager
by Diana Gabaldon
These next two books were gifted to me by my boyfriend. He knew I was getting Dragonfly in Amber for my birthday from my dad, so he decided to get me the third book in the Outlander series to follow! I love the fact that my Outlander collection is building ever so gradually.

All the Light We Cannot See
by Anthony Doerr
Another historical fiction book! Everyone seems to love this one. It keeps catching my eye every single time I enter the bookstore, and now I actually own a copy and can see what all the fuss is about myself.

And just a couple more…
Solitaire
by Alice Oseman
I won this book in a giveaway! Over on twitter, MaximumpopBooks are an account that host quite a lot of giveaways, and when they were handing out 100 copies of this one, I just had to enter. And I won a copy! This is the first time I’ve ever won a giveaway, so I was very excited indeed.
Also let me just mention that this is the brightest book I have on my bookshelves. Don’t be fooled by the dark cover – the spine is luminous orange. You can even see the orange glow on my hand in the photo.

A Gathering of Shadows
by VE Schwab
And FINALLY, here we have A Gathering of Shadows, the sequel to A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab. I adored the first book when I read it last year, and even more so when I reread at the start of February. So I preordered this one a while ago, and now that the publish date has recently gone, it’s here! I’m currently reading this one, and I love it already.
~~~
So there we have it!
One very large book haul for the month of February.
Birthdays are a great thing when there’s a whole bunch of books you’re longing for 😀
I don’t think there’ll be any need for me to buy books for a while now (“thank god” -says my bank account)
Share your thoughts!
How many books have you gained this month? – feel free to link your February book haul in the comments if you have one uploaded. They’re my favourite type of posts to read, so I’d LOVE to see them!
Have you read any of these books on my list?
Which books should I read first?
Let me know!
Awesome haul! I got 6 books this month, which is a splurge for me haha. 😀 I really want to read All The Bright Places and Mara Dyer!
That would be a splurge for me too, so this haul is just a bit overwhelming to me haha! And both of those books sounds amazing, I can’t wait to read them 🙂
Great haul! I’ve also been trying to get more into contemporary novels. But usually I only read them when I’m in a book slump or if I need a break from fantasy
LikeLiked by 1 person
I usually hate contemporary but a bunch of them have really caught my attention lately, so I thought I’d give them a go. I’ve read fantasy non stop for months now, so figured I’d break it up a bit (although I’m currently reading a fantasy book now so…that didn’t work yet haha!)
Lol same here. I’ve bought quite a few contemporary books lately but I keep going back to fantasy. I’ll probably read more contemp during the summer that’s usually when my desire for that picks up more
Thanks haha and no doubt I’ll be making my way through these gradually. I still have books from Christmas that I haven’t yet read so the list is pretty huge right now!
You will love All the Bright Places! Although you should carry a box of tissues with you just in case. 🙂
I think tissues are a permanent fixture for bookworms nowadays haha!
Wow, so many books! **
I ordered Salt to the Sea a couple of days after its release date, but it hasn’t arrived yet :c
Anyway, this post is a delight to my eyes because there are so many books! *-*
