February has been and almost gone, and for once this month felt like it lasted ages. Normally the months flash by without a pause, but looking back today and seeing which books I read, it actually seems like a lifetime ago when I read the books at the beginning of the month.
Anyway, as usual with these wrap ups, I’ll be sharing the books I’ve read, what I’m currently reading, a list of posts uploaded this month, and a life in general updates section.
This is going to be a long post, so get comfy and enjoy!
Books I read this month
This month I read 7 books – 1 being a novella and another being a graphic novel. Also, one was a reread. So this month was a bit of an odd reading month. Though I did find a new favourite, so I was very happy about that…although, that happiness came in after I stopped crying half an hour later. Anyway, here are the books I read this month:
~~~
The Sleeping Prince
by Melinda Salisbury
Rated 4.5/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
Since I managed to get this book earlier than the release date, I read this one straight away and loved it. This one has it’s own sort of fairytale surrounding the entire story, and it was really gripping.
A Darker Shade of Magic
by VE Schwab
Rated 4.5/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
This was a REread for me. With the second book preordered, I decided this one needed to be reread so that I can jump straight into the second book and the end of the month. And let me tell you, it was a great decision!
Walking Dead Volume 1: Days Gone Bye
by Robert Kirkman & Tony Moore
Rated 3.5/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
I wanted a quick read, and this one had been sat on my shelf for a while. I was eager to start the series, so this month I did!
[Amazon]
The Raven Boys
by Maggie Steifvater
Rated 4/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
I was very nicely surprised by this book, it wasn’t what I was expecting. It only took me two days to read this book, which is really good for me – being such a slow reader!
[Amazon]
Me Before You
by Jojo Moyes
Rated 5/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
I’m really glad I picked this book up, because it’s not something I’d normally read. But after seeing the trailer, I just had to, and now it’s one of my favourite books!
Fairest
by Marissa Meyer
Rated 3.5/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
I found this book quite interesting – there’s not enough books written from the villains point of view.
[Amazon]
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
by Mark Haddon
Rated 2/5 stars – [Click here to see review]
I could definitely see why this book is so popular, but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. I kept switching between being interested and bored, so it took me a lot longer to finish that it should’ve.
I am Currently Reading…
I’m currently reading A Gathering Of Shadows by VE Schwab! This is the second book in the Shades of Magic series, the 1st book being A Darker Shade of Magic (review here). This featured in yesterday’s February Book Haul, so I’m glad to say I’m actually making my way steadily through my TBR, despite gaining a whole bunch this month.
I’m about halfway through and absolutely loving it, so I can’t wait to dive back in later today 😀 I can already tell this one is going to have a high rating from me, so stay tuned for the review – which should be up some time in the coming week.
Life In General…
So the first thing that comes to mind when I think of February is the fact that it was my birthday just a few days ago! Hence why I have a pretty big book haul this month. I was so overwhelmed with happiness about how many people said Happy Birthday to me, as well as other kind words, either on here, Twitter or Instagram. Thank you so much! I was genuinely just smiling all day. It was great. Since I don’t usually do much for my birthday (I don’t like parties) I just went to the cinema to see Deadpool with a couple of my friends, so that was good 🙂
What else happened in February…OH! I won my first ever giveaway! I was very excited about that 😀 I won the giveaway on MaximumPopBooks’ twitter page, and I won the book Solitaire by Alice Oseman. It arrived not long after, and I very gratefully added it to my collection.
Another exciting thing is that I helped my friend Abbie set up a blog of her own! Her blog is Wonder in Words, so you should go and check it out 🙂
Speaking of Abbie, for the Journalism course we both study, we had to make a video approximately a minute long using our mobile phones…so I had to do some modelling for her Winter Fashion Lookbook video. We spent an entire day trying to make things look photogenic, while avoiding awkward looks from people passing by. And then we had to learn how to actually make it into a full video. But Abbie managed to make the video look good, and it had to be uploaded to YouTube, so here’s it is.
Enjoy my awkward modelling xD (oh dear)
So that’s it for my February Wrap Up!
It seems like it’s been quite a busy month.
AHHHHHH THIS WRAP UP POST IS PERFECT. As a self-proclaimed neatfreak, I love how you organized everything and the structure of the post itself. I’m far too lazy to do anything like that, to be very honest. 😂 Anyway. It sounds like you’ve had an awesome month. I’m glad. Happy reading! 😊
Ahaha thank you!
I have a thing for organization so I actually love sorting things out like this 🙂 And I always start my wrap-ups at the start of the month and add to them every week so that they don’t seem like too much effort at the end of the month to add all the links and everything!
Hope you had a good month too! Happy reading 😀
Wait, hold on, that is a brilliant idea. It never occurred to me to do that, tbh. 😂 Will definitely try doing that. Haha, thanks!
Your awkward modelling is adorable though! I’ve seen loads of youtubers doing the same thing with their lookbooks as well!
I need to read Me Before You now! I haven’t even watched the trailer because I want to read the book.
I think I read around 7 books as well which makes me feel at ease a bit because I thought everyone was going to be reading 20 books a month because of the new year momentum.
Aw thank you haha!
You definitely need to read Me Before You, it’s incredible! (at least it is in my opinion). And same! I thought everyone would read loads and I’d be left thinking “woah…how?” but apparently not 🙂
I know, I just need to order Me Before You and when it arrives I’m going to read it straight away! So many people love it!
Hahahaha that’s good because I wouldn’t be able to keep it up 🙂
Oooh, I just got A Gathering of Shadows from the library last week! I can’t wait to start it, since I absoluely loved A Darker Shade of Magic. 🙂 As for how many books I read… six. Which is normally super low for me, but high right now seeing as the past few months have been simply disastrous in terms of reading. I’m also planning to start reading Starflight by Melissa Landers next. And — Happy Belated Birthday!!!!!! 😀
Thank you! I just finished AGOS and you’re in for a treat 😀 I really hope you love it as much as I did!
I only ever expect to read one book a week, so any more than 4 in a month seems like a lot to me haha.
Also, I hope you enjoy Starflight! I’ve not read it myself, but I’ve seen it around and am considering adding it to my TBR 🙂
A lot of good books on your read list! I loved Raven Boys!! The Curious Case of The Dog in the Night is on my TBR this month for the book club. I hope it is good 😕. I’ve never actually looked at any reviews.
The Raven Boys is so good, I was very pleasantly surprised. I mean, I thought I’d enjoy it, but I didn’t think I love the characters as much as I did. I hope you enjoy The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time!
Yes, I was the same way. Thank you!
Aaah The Raven Boys! In February I read the two books that come after it and omg I love the characters so much. The series is so great. XD Ooh I can’t wait to read A Darker Shade of Magic (its sitting on my shelf making me feel guilty for not reading it already…) and then the sequel. Happy (belated!) birthday! ❤
