Favourite books of 2016 | That awkward moment where I realise I’ve been reluctant with the 5 stars

favourite-books-2016

Hi guys! How are you all doing? I hope all of you that celebrate Christmas had a wonderful time these past few days ❤

Today’s post is coming to you a bit later in the day than usual. With the festivities and general busyness of the season, I didn’t have time to write and schedule the post beforehand like usual. And let’s face it, it’s taking me longer to get back into the swing of things after taking a break.

But today, I’m bringing you my favourite books of 2016. The ones I READ in 2016, not necessarily published in 2016. Now, when I came to look through my Goodreads challenge to choose my favourites out, I was originally planning on picking out 16 for 2016. BUT…then I realised that this year, I’ve actually been quite stingy with my 5 star ratings, and there’s not that many I wanted to mention. However, I did rate a fair few books a 4.5/5 stars, and some of those are really close to being all-time favourites (and are definitely favourites for this year) so I’ve included those too, and managed to get 10.

So let’s talk about my favourite books of 2016!

The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich | Is it paranormal? Is it psychological? Well, it’s up to you to decide

the-dead-house

So on the last week of October, I decided to reread one of my favourite books, The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich.

And since I’m always trying to get more people to read Dawn Kurtagich books, I made this week into a little readalong with my friends Charlotte (@BookmarksAndBlogging), Aimee (@lovelybookloves) and Molly (@Molly’sBookNook).

And now that my love has been renewed, I’m here to write a new review. Yes – a NEW one, because the review I had before was uploaded right at the beginning of my blogging life…that meaning, it was rubbish. Here’s to hoping this one will do it more justice.

So let’s talk about The Dead House!

October Wrap Up – The one where October doesn’t exist and I become a bear cub

october

Okayy, but did October actually exist?

I’ve been thinking it September for the past month, and now suddenly we’re going into November…WHAT?! It’s nearly Christmas! (Yes, I’m THAT sort of person)

Weirdly enough, October just felt like it didn’t exist. I have a strange feeling that I didn’t read that much, even though this wrap up shows I very obviously did. October for me was just a vague noticing of the leaves changing colour and the temperature dropping rapidly. Lord knows what I did for the rest of it.

But here we are at my wrap up for the month, so let’s find out!

There’s also a video version of this Wrap Up on my booktube channel, where I go into my thoughts on the books a little more. Click here to check it out!

June Wrap Up

June wrap up

Did June even happen?

Apparently so.

It still hasn’t sunk in that here in England, it’s actually Summer now – not that the weather has done anything to help remind me. So all those books I’ve held off “until Summer when I have more time”…well, now’s the time.

Anyway, it’s the start of July, meaning a June Wrap-Up is needed. So here we are!

As always, this will be a long post so get comfy and enjoy!

I call this photo “The one in which I nearly give myself concussion trying to balance 9 books on my head”. Bit of a mouthful, but true.

Not Daring To Trust Anyone In The Creeper Man By Dawn Kurtagich

The creeper man

*All reviews I write are spoiler free*

How happy I am to finally be writing this review!

Ever since reading The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich, I’ve been obsessed. I talk about it all the time. If you have me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen.

So you can imagine how thrilled I was when Dawn offered to send me an ARC to review of her new book, The Creeper Man! 😀

Seriously, I ran downstairs and started jumping up and down practically screaming at my dad in incoherent nonsense.

So let’s talk about The Creeper Man!

(though maybe you don’t want to…talking about him can summon terrible things…DUN DUN DUNNNNN)

The Wonderful People I Will Keep Throwing Money At For Their Books… My Auto-Buy Authors!

auto buy authors

I think every bookworm has their auto-buy authors.

The authors where no matter what they publish, you WILL be buying it. The authors where you’re constantly waiting for any news of upcoming books. The authors where they could write out their shopping list, and you’d find it enthralling.

Granted, auto-buy authors is kind of a new concept to me. I knew about them, but didn’t think I had any of my own. Purely because I have this thing where it takes me forever to continue series, so most of the time I never have the entire collection of books.

But then I realized…there are a few.

Even though there’s only 5 here, I’ll split this into two sections:

– I own all their books so far & eagerly waiting for the next

Pretty self explanatory. Most of the time, these are ongoing series, or an upcoming release is not yet out.

– Permanent *grabby hands* at the books I intend on buying

I don’t yet own all the books these authors have published, but I fully intend on buying them to get the whole collection.

So who are my auto-buy authors? Let’s find out!

My top 10 books of 2015

Top 10 books of 2015

So now that it’s the end of the year, I figured I’d show you what my Top 10 books of 2015 were. I think it’s going to be difficult to choose just 10!

I’ve written a guest post very similar to this over on Books With Em’s, so you guys should go and check that out!

Top 5 books of 2015

Anyway, I’ll mix this one up a bit so that it’s not exactly the same post. I suppose the guest post can be a sort of…Top 5 favourites from my Top 10 – if that makes any sense.

Now instead of rambling on, time for me to show you my top 10 favourite books of 2015!

Book Fangirling Award (& a rant apparently…)

Book Fangirling

Aaaaaaaand the blog awards are back! I’ve been nominated for three recently – 2 new ones and 1 being a repeat – so there will be more blog award posts to come. Hope you don’t mind!

I’ve also decided to change around my Milestones & Awards page. The repeated award nominations at the moment are just shown again, but instead I’m changing it so the logo is just shown once with the number of nominations and all the posts linked next to it, so the page isn’t really long like it is at the minute. I don’t know how long it’ll take me to sort through it all though, so you might have to bare with if you notice anything different.

But that’s not what this post is about….here we have the Book Fangirling Award!

Seasons of Book Blogging

Hello!

I’ve been tagged in so many posts lately, which is why there’s been an increase of posts from me this week. Hope you don’t mind!

Astra @ A Stranger’s Guide to Novels tagged me to do the Seasons of Book Blogging book tag, so thank you, and here it is!

Seasons of book blogging tag.PNG

How this works:

  • Thank the creator (so she can see all of your answers!) and the person who tagged you.
  • Begin with the month in which you have been tagged and move forward from there!
  • State the best gift you’ve ever been given after you answer the question for your birthday month.
  • Tag whomever you’d like when you’re finished.. or else you’ll be “it” forever.
  • Have fun, of course!

So let’s do this!
