Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them (Screenplay)| Good for a quick trip back into the wizarding world, but not too impressive

Fantastic beasts

I didn’t even intend on reading this one for a very long time. But I felt like I was reading slowly lately (even though I was reading at my usual speed) and wanted a quick read, and so this happened.

Illustrated Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets by J.K.Rowling and Jim Kay | A wonderful book to collect and reread around Christmas time

illustrated-chamber-of-secrets

AT LAST! I READ THIS BOOK!

I got this book at the end of October and have been saving it specifically for the run up to Christmas. I was originally planning to leave it right until the last week of the countdown (that being this week), but after having some…let’s say not so good reads lately, I needed something that was guaranteed to be a good ‘n.

This is going to be a short review, specifically for the illustrated edition. Do we even need review of the Harry Potter series anymore?

Corner bookmarks – how do you make them? Well, I’ll show you how to DIY!

title

This is probably the post that has taken me the longest to write – ever – on my blog.

Between making the bookmarks, stopping to take photos of each step, waiting for things to dry, cleaning, and actually writing the post…this has been an all day thing. So I REALLY hope you guys like this 😆 A lot of you liked my Bibliophile Canvas DIY last week so my hope is there 😀

So, most of us bookworms have a thing for bookmarks. I mean, we should have one for every single book we own, right? RIGHT?

(All right, maybe not EVERY book. But most.)

Is it a bad thing? I don’t think so. SO I’M GOING TO FUEL THAT COLLECTING CREATURE INSIDE YOU AND LET IT BLOSSOM INTO A BEAUTIFULLY CREATIVE FLOWER.

Yep.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child | A nostalgic SCRIPT book about a rather annoying child…and I loved it!

Cursed Child

How I survived to write this, I don’t know.

I loved the build up to this. Not so much the waiting, but the general feeling of hype from all Potterheads. We took over the world once again! Stay away, muggles.

While I didn’t go to a midnight launch party, I DID go and pick my preorder up on the day. As soon as I could. And they brought animals in! I held a snake, like the true Slytherin I am, but there was also an owl, tarantula, tortoises and toads 😀

Everything was incredible. It was such a magical day. And once I had my copy, had frolicked around with animals for a while, and had some dinner….I went right on home and devoured this book.

Let’s Talk:Cursed Child hopes, Fantastic Beasts movie and general wizarding wonders!

harry potter

This week’s discussion is taking on a particular theme…

Harry Potter!!!

Since we’re only a mere few days away from the release of the Cursed Child book (EEEEKKKKKK!) I thought it’d only be fitting for this week’s chat to be about all things Harry Potter.

I didn’t quite know WHAT to write about, since there’s so much of the wizarding world to explore, so I did a poll on twitter…

harry potter topics

…and it basically showed that we can’t miss ANYTHING here today. So this will be a good old ramble about everything Harry Potter related.

Be prepared.

I’ll warn you now: If you HAVEN’T read all the Harry Potter books, leave now. This will likely contain spoilers, and you probably won’t have a clue what’s going on with magic spells and wand properties etc etc.

And now…

This is probably my longest discussion yet, so get comfy and let’s talk, Potterheads!

April Book Haul – So Much For That Book Buying Ban!

April haul

At the start of the month I said to myself “I’m on a book buying ban for April because I’ve gotten so many books since December.”

As time went on, I realized one of my most anticipated releases came out at the end of the month. So this went from no books to “I’ll make an exception for THAT ONE BOOK.”

And then April actually started and I ended up getting 6 books. And a half. Kind of (you’ll see what I mean).

So here’s my failed book buying ban – otherwise known as a haul!

Discussion Post: What Makes A Book A Classic?

book classic

Well the topic of this discussion is pretty clear for the title.

I actually think about this quite a lot. What does make a classic, a classic? Who decides? Can there be new classics? Will there be any books we see as modern, new releases now that may be in the “classic” genre in years to come?

Like I said, I think about this a lot.

So what makes a book a classic? Let’s discuss!
