January Wrap Up | Actually, quite a lot happened this month…

january-wrap-up

January. A new year. A new motivation. A motivation that, usually, doesn’t last all that long. But when it does, it feels wonderful.

The weather in England is still bitterly cold, if not more so than before Christmas. It is no longer fun anymore. But still, we manage. There’s worse things than a cold wind biting at our faces, after all. Worse things than numb fingers. And the comfort of a warm blanket and hot water bottle can soon rid those nuisances.

What better way to spend those cold evenings than reading?

Let’s see what January brought…

Sweets, treats, and also things…not so nice in the Queen’s childhood | Heartless by Marissa Meyer

heartless

For some unbeknownst reason, we over here in the UK have to wait until February for Heartless to be released. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC, and so now my review is coming at a strange in between place – where the US readers can relate (if they’ve read it), and the UK lot – as well as anywhere else it’s not released yet – are still waiting eagerly.

I find that kind of interesting, for some reason?

Let’s talk about Heartless!

November Wrap Up – The weird month where I feel like I’m not reading, then end up reading more than usual

november-wrap-up

November. The month that begins with an onslaught of sporadic fireworks. The month where winter begins to settle in, grabbing the bones of us here in the UK, and lies with us for the long run. Fog and frost become a daily occurrence. We have only 6 hours or so of real daylight. Step outside and instantly your cheeks are flushed, fingers stiff, and you’ll be glad for extra layers of clothing.

But inside is a different matter. Inside is where I (and most bookworms) thrive on these freezing days. November was the month where my bedroom became my cocoon of warmth. At some point every day, you could find me wrapped in 5 layers of blankets, cuddling a hot water bottle and cat simultaneously while reading a book by fairy-light.

And so, November was a true bookworm month for me. Even if I didn’t read any more than usual, every comfort my heart longs for – blankets, hot water bottles, warm drinks while fog smothers the outside world – was available to me once again. Every moment of the day I wanted to get cosy and read. And now here we are – getting closer to Christmas, might I add.

So let’s see what November brought…

There’s also a video version of this post if you’d like to see, combined with my December TBR! Click here if you want to see!

PS. Do you like the new intro? Thought I’d try the scenic route rather than just throwing you all in. Let me know if you like!

*ahem* anyway

Finding more about the past and future of our beloved squad in…Stars Above by Marissa Meyer

I FINALLY READ THIS BOOK LET’S SHOUT OUR THANKS TO THE HEAVENS AND SING HALLELUJAH!

Seriously though. I only needed to read this book to finish the Lunar Chronicles series. It took me months, but finally FINALLY I’M DONE.

Which is funny really, considering this was one of my top priorities/anticipates releases and yet when I got it…nope. But here we are today.

Since this is a novella bind-up, the review will be slightly different. I’ll give a rating for each individual novella with a couple of sentences, then at the end give an overall summary and rating.

Let’s talk about Stars Above!

(P.S. Sorry for the lousy photo. Darn you, artificial yellow lighting)

Such a “Heartless” cover reveal (geddit?) – Heartless by Marissa Meyer is having a separate UK cover? How did I not know?

lets-talk-4

SPONTANEOUS BLOG POST BECAUSE BOOKISH NEWS.

This actually confused me slightly when it was revealed yesterday. Because Heartless by Marissa Meyer had a cover reveal…even though it already had one. I even did a blog post on that one too 😆

And yet here we are today, with another spontaneous blog post because I just feel the need to share all things bookish. Even if it happened yesterday and everyone probably already saw by now. But shhhhhh we’re here to chat about said news.

So here’s the UK cover of Heartless, in

That Huge Build Up Of Books That I Hope To Read This Summer

summer TBR

You know when you sort of keep buying books and you really want to read them all but you don’t know when that’ll happen so you keep planning to read them soon and then you end up in a huge tangle of “oh my goodness what do I read now?!?”

Well, that’s basically what this post is.

I suppose this is a TBR, since I’m actually planning on reading these.

But these books are the books I hope to read this summer – well, all the books that I OWN that I plan to read. No doubt I’ll end up buying more. And obviously I’ll be reading more than just these books.

This was originally going to be a Top 10 post, but …well…there’s more than ten 😀

But anyway, I’m rambling.

Here are the books I own that I hope to read this Summer!

April Book Haul – So Much For That Book Buying Ban!

April haul

At the start of the month I said to myself “I’m on a book buying ban for April because I’ve gotten so many books since December.”

As time went on, I realized one of my most anticipated releases came out at the end of the month. So this went from no books to “I’ll make an exception for THAT ONE BOOK.”

And then April actually started and I ended up getting 6 books. And a half. Kind of (you’ll see what I mean).

So here’s my failed book buying ban – otherwise known as a haul!

March Wrap-Up

March Wrap Up

So here we are, having reached the end of another month. Which means it’s time to do one of my favourite type of blog posts…a Wrap Up!

As always, I’ll be listing all the books I’ve read this month, along with what I’m currently reading, the blog posts I wrote this month (that weren’t reviews), and a few updates about my life in general.

This will be a pretty long post, so get comfy and enjoy!

Winter by Marissa Meyer

Winter

*All reviews I write are spoiler free*

I finally read the last book in The Lunar Chronicles!

Well, sort of. If you don’t count the novellas in Stars Above.

But I’ll get round to those at some point.

As always, my review will be spoiler free, but since this is the 4th book in a series, the synopsis may contain spoilers for the previous books. There will be a warning just before the synopsis, so if you haven’t read the previous books, just skip ahead to my review.

So let’s talk about Winter!

February Wrap Up

February Wrap up.PNG

February has been and almost gone, and for once this month felt like it lasted ages. Normally the months flash by without a pause, but looking back today and seeing which books I read, it actually seems like a lifetime ago when I read the books at the beginning of the month.

Anyway, as usual with these wrap ups, I’ll be sharing the books I’ve read, what I’m currently reading, a list of posts uploaded this month, and a life in general updates section.

This is going to be a long post, so get comfy and enjoy!
