Voyager by Diana Gabaldon | A really disappointing DNF & a dislike for the most loved character

Voyager

Another DNF? I must have a veil of scrutiny covering me. Why am I not so easily impressed anymore?

Although really…I kind of love it?

Let’s dive right in!

Favourite books of 2016 | That awkward moment where I realise I’ve been reluctant with the 5 stars

favourite-books-2016

Hi guys! How are you all doing? I hope all of you that celebrate Christmas had a wonderful time these past few days ❤

Today’s post is coming to you a bit later in the day than usual. With the festivities and general busyness of the season, I didn’t have time to write and schedule the post beforehand like usual. And let’s face it, it’s taking me longer to get back into the swing of things after taking a break.

But today, I’m bringing you my favourite books of 2016. The ones I READ in 2016, not necessarily published in 2016. Now, when I came to look through my Goodreads challenge to choose my favourites out, I was originally planning on picking out 16 for 2016. BUT…then I realised that this year, I’ve actually been quite stingy with my 5 star ratings, and there’s not that many I wanted to mention. However, I did rate a fair few books a 4.5/5 stars, and some of those are really close to being all-time favourites (and are definitely favourites for this year) so I’ve included those too, and managed to get 10.

So let’s talk about my favourite books of 2016!

I planned to write this up much earlier, but my internet decided to inconveniently stop working so I couldn’t actually write it up. Isn’t that just always the way? *sigh*

But we’re here now.

July Wrap Up – Quite a few books along with quite a few changes

July wrap up

Did anyone else feel like July dragged?

As in, dragged along like a rock tied around a snail shell while the little creature treks it’s way across a mile long field while avoiding circling birds.

Because I sure do.

As always, this is going to be a long post, so get comfy and enjoy!

PS. It’s really rather difficult to hold this many books. They’re heavy and slide around, you know!

Sunday Status: Self inflicted readathons when there’s really just not enough time

Self Inflicted readathon

Here you see a wonderfully new idea (which is probably neither wonderful or new) for a feature I’ve added to my blog.

Sunday Status

(I couldn’t think of a better, snappier name. I apologize)

This won’t be a weekly thing, just something to go up every so often. As you guys know, Sundays are the day my “random” posts go up – whether that be something creative, a top 10, recommendations…and now, possibly a Sunday Status.

So, this feature is a place where I can update you guys on anything book related – what I’m currently reading, what’s coming soon on my blog etc – and tell any stories that have made me reading life a little more interesting lately. Hence why it’s not a weekly thing, because my reading life (or just my life in general) is rarely interesting enough to have stories to tell.

So…what’s my Sunday Status?

That Huge Build Up Of Books That I Hope To Read This Summer

summer TBR

You know when you sort of keep buying books and you really want to read them all but you don’t know when that’ll happen so you keep planning to read them soon and then you end up in a huge tangle of “oh my goodness what do I read now?!?”

Well, that’s basically what this post is.

I suppose this is a TBR, since I’m actually planning on reading these.

But these books are the books I hope to read this summer – well, all the books that I OWN that I plan to read. No doubt I’ll end up buying more. And obviously I’ll be reading more than just these books.

This was originally going to be a Top 10 post, but …well…there’s more than ten 😀

But anyway, I’m rambling.

Here are the books I own that I hope to read this Summer!

February Book Haul! (It’s a big one)

february book haul

I got a lot of books this month. A LOT.

But it was my birthday, so I guess it’s excusable?

But I’m not even sorry. My reading material is sorted for a few months now so I’m happy. Plus I’ve been really wanting most of these books for months now, so…yeah.

This post will be long enough on it’s own, so I won’t ramble any longer.

This will be in three sections: books I got before my birthday, ON my birthday, and after.

Let’s jump right in!

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

*All reviews I write will be spoiler free*

I finally finished Outlander!

This book is huge. Over 800 pages. That combined with going back to college…well, it took a while to read this book. About 2 weeks I think?

But I’m so glad I read it!

I’d heard so many people talking about this, including one of my favourite Booktubers -Sasha Alsberg – so of course I was going to get round to it at some point.

And now that I have, here’s my review!

Let’s talk about Outlander!

December Book Haul

December Haul

So it’s just been Christmas!

I hope everyone had a really lovely day yesterday ❤ I know I did – mine was amazing actually, I got so many surprises that just blew my mind! The main one being…A LAPTOP!!!! I asked for one for my 18th birthday in February but my dad decided to surprise me by giving me one yesterday! Now it will be easier for me to blog since I won’t have to use my dad’s computer on the rare occasions he’s not on it to schedule loads of posts ahead of time 😀

Anyway – back to the post.

Instead of this being just a Christmas haul, I decided to make it my December Haul, because I bought a few books before Christmas. All together there are 17 BOOKS! (EEEEEEKKKK!)

*side note: I apologize for the low quality photographs. I took them late at night on my phone camera so they aren’t as good as I’d have hoped*

So without further ado, I’ll get on with the haul!

My Life in Books tag!

I was tagged by  Belle Infini  and BOOKS AND OTHER MIRACLES to do this tag, so thank you! 😀

1. Find a book for each of your initials.

Well, my initials are AJW, so here we go…

ACOTARjane eyreWinter

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas/ Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte/ Winter by Marissa Meyer. I don’t actually own Winter yet, but all the other options had boring covers and I think I’ll be getting it at Christmas so close enough, right? Also Jane Eyre turned out to be the only book I own beginning with J. I had to scavenge for it.

2. Count your age along your bookshelf. What book is it?
