I do love the Penguin Little Black Classics. So much so that I want to collect them…but as of right now I only have three. Which is a bit of a pathetically small collection, considering there’s 80.
But you know, got to start somewhere, right?
Let’s talk about The Beautifull Cassandra!
(And yes it is spelt like that. Yes, it’s bothers me slightly too.)
Title: The Beautifull Cassandra

Gradually making my way through this series *cough* at last *cough*
I have the last book ready and raring to go, so hopefully I’ll be finished soon (it’s just a matter of how long it’ll take me to pick up that one now)
But that’s not what we’re here for today.
Let’s talk about The Evolution of Mara Dyer!

Number of Pages: 527
Continue reading The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin | A really strange mix of psychological horror, paranormal, and dystopian?
I honestly don’t really want to write this review. I hate it when reviews aren’t good ones…but I’ve got to be honest. Plus it’s not ALL bad, so…yeah.
Let’s just get on with it.
Let’s talk about The Tormented Witch!

Continue reading The Tormented Witch by J.C. Beckham | A fun read…but for me? It was really quite cringey
Considering how excited I was to get this book early (Waterstones started selling it before release date, I didn’t have an ARC), it’s a bit ironic that I started actually reading it ON the release day.
Either way, I have it and I’ve read it so here we are.
Let’s talk about What’s A Girl Gotta Do?
(I forgot to take a separate review photo so here’s my very chuffed face when I got my hands on this early. Enjoy.)
Title: What’s A Girl Gotta Do?
Author: Holly Bourne
Series Status: The 3rd book in the Spinster Club trilogy (+ a novella on the way)
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Feminism
Number of Pages: 419
Continue reading Shouting through clown horns and eating an abundance of cheese in…What’s A Girl Gotta Do? by Holly Bourne
How I survived to write this, I don’t know.
I loved the build up to this. Not so much the waiting, but the general feeling of hype from all Potterheads. We took over the world once again! Stay away, muggles.
While I didn’t go to a midnight launch party, I DID go and pick my preorder up on the day. As soon as I could. And they brought animals in! I held a snake, like the true Slytherin I am, but there was also an owl, tarantula, tortoises and toads 😀
Everything was incredible. It was such a magical day. And once I had my copy, had frolicked around with animals for a while, and had some dinner….I went right on home and devoured this book.
So let’s talk about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
Title: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Number of Pages: 330
Continue reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child | A nostalgic SCRIPT book about a rather annoying child…and I loved it!
Oh thank goodness, it looks like I’ll manage to get this review up today after all!
I planned to write this up much earlier, but my internet decided to inconveniently stop working so I couldn’t actually write it up. Isn’t that just always the way? *sigh*
But we’re here now.
Let’s talk about Dragonfly in Amber!
Title: Dragonfly in Amber

Continue reading How could I NOT enjoy reading about old Scottish wars in…Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon
Well this was an interesting book, to say the least. I don’t think I’ve read anything like it before…and I have mixed feelings. But I’ll get to that. Because obviously, this is a review.
Wow Ashleigh, great opening there *facepalms*
I feel like I’ve not written a review in ages for some reason. I mean, it’s been a week, the usual amount of time. But I suppose because I’ve been reading more and reviewing more lately, going back to a week seems a bit stretched? Huh.
Anyway. The review.
Let’s talk about Beneath Wandering Stars!
Also, can I just mention how much I LOVE this cover? 5/5 stars for the cover alone. It’s stunning. And my constellation map seemed to be the PERFECT background.
Title: Beneath Wandering Stars
Author: Ashlee Cowles
Publisher: Merit Press
Series Status: Standalone
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Number of Pages: 260

Continue reading Going through a long pilgrimage full of life lessons in…Beneath Wandering Stars by Ashlee Cowles
Yay for free books, am I right?
I managed to get this book for free! At Waterstones, you can get these little stamp cards where you get a stamp for every £10 you spend in store, and when you get 10 stamps, the card will basically become a £10 waterstones voucher. So with my book buying being mostly in Waterstones lately rather than online, and with my inability to buy just one book, it didn’t take long for the stamps to build up and for me to get the £10 Waterstones spending reward.
And since I’d been eyeing up this book for so long…well, might as well get it with the voucher!
Little story aside, let’s talk about A Monster Calls!
Title: A Monster Calls
Author: Patrick Ness
Publisher: Walker Books
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Series Status: Standalone
Number of Pages: 215
Continue reading Finding out what happens with the truth when unexpectedly…A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
I’m not going to lie, this was a bit of an impulse pick for me.
The Next Together has been sat on my shelf for months now. Usually, I have a vague idea of what book I want to read next, but like I said before, I impulsively picked this one up after finishing To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.
I’m quite glad I did though, because I’ve been meaning to read it for a very, very long time. It almost feels like…a lifetime. Get it? You know…’cause it’s a book about reincarnation?
Wow I’m sad.
Anyway, moving on…

I was back in the contemporary mood. I wanted a quick read. And ohhh did I get one.
I literally read this in a day.
I can see now why this series is well loved, definitely!
