February Favourites & Wrap Up

february bullet journal

Time for another favourites post! Admittedly, I don’t have many favourites from February. It was a month of just getting by, juggling essays and trying not to get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of plans I’ve got coming up in March. But there’s a few standout moments amongst the tedium of what felt like a weirdly long month for one that has less days…so here we are!

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon // Everything I Didn’t Know I Wanted

ARC of The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, Bloomsbury

Goodreads | Book Depository

Everyone stay calm! I’m only reviewing my most anticipated read of the year. Cool cool cool. Yep. That’s happening.

Set in a crumbling Queendom and world plagued with draconic threats, The Priory of the Orange Tree follows numerous perspectives in this epic fantasy world. Seriously folks – this book could be in league with the likes of Game of Thrones and The Name of the Wind. Get on it.

Yes, Autumn has passed but I’m late and didn’t want to miss out this blog post, so here we are.

A few weeks ago I uploaded an Autumn Book Haul to my youtube channel, and while I didn’t want to repeat content on here, I still wanted to show you folks some of the books I’m excited about. So I thought I’d bring back the book haul highlights, where I show you a few of the books I’m most excited about from the haul!

If you’d like to watch the full video it will be at the end of this post, but if you want to hear about some of the books I’ve acquired lately and am most excited for, here we are!

The Song Rising

AT LAST. I HAVE THIS BOOK IN MY CLUTCHES.

And I’m sure everyone who knows my blog, twitter, booktube, or instagram are glad for it too, because maybe, just maybe, that means I’ll stop talking about this series quite so much.

My first bookish event! |The story of how I fangirled so hard my face hurt from smiling

first book event

Believe it or not my friends, I hadn’t been to any sort of bookish event before now.  Here in the UK, it’s rare for people to come to my city…which is quite surprising actually, considering I live in one of the largest cities. But, with my inability to travel elsewhere, I just hadn’t been to any kind of bookish event.

Until now. And ohhh I started with a good one. Because Samantha Shannon – one of my FAVOURITE authors – came to do a book signing/”evening with” event. And when I found out, I genuinely squealed. I was at my friends house and just shouted at her “OHMYGOSHWECANGOWECANGOI’LLGETTHETICKETSTOMORROWWE’REGOING.”

And so this has been planned for over a month.

The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon | Such an intense read, I can’t even

The Mime Order

How glad am I that I reread the first two books in this series before going onto the third? VERY.

I forgot so much. I feel like my mind has been enlightened. Like…I knew I was missing details, but not quite so much. And for a favourite series? Well, we can’t be having that now can we.

It’s been a long time coming.

With the wait for The Song Rising – the 3rd book in this series – being so long, I knew I needed to reread this book and the second one. Admittedly, I should have started my rereads sooner, since I still need to read the 2nd book and the 3rd book is now released. But still. Here we are at last.

February/Birthday Book Haul! Stocking up my physical TBR once again

feb-haul

Sooooo it was my birthday on Friday 🙂

And while I don’t make that huge a fuss about my own birthday, it does mean I was treated to some new books, and that alone is exciting for me!

Like with my December Book Haul, my main version of this haul is actually on my booktube channel, since it’s a lot easier to explain which were gifts/which I got before my birthday, along with why I’m interested in them. So the video will be down below, but underneath the books and synopsis’ will be listed for anyone who doesn’t have enough time (or simply don’t want) to watch the video.

So let’s see what books I got in February!

A Nerve-Wracking Cover Reveal: The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon

Sog rising cover reveal

“Why nerve-wracking?” I hear you ask.

Well, when Samantha Shannon revealed the cover reveal was on it’s way, she also mentioned that THE SERIES DESIGN HAD BEEN CHANGED.

And we all know that while it’s the inside of a book that counts, we bookworms like our series covers to be matching.

And considering this is one of my favourite series, and I already have the first two books in the original covers…oooohhhh I was nervous.

But it’s here, so let’s see …
