Book Haul Spotlight | Plucking out my priorities from one heck of a haul

books

A few days ago I uploaded a huge collective book haul to my channel – and while it’s just so much easier to fawn over all the books in actual speech form over there, I also figured...hey, why not spotlight some of the ones I’m really looking forward to reading on my blog? There’s so many books listed in that video (it’s linked at the end if you’d like to see them all!), but some really stand out to me as top priorities for the upcoming months and I basically just want another reason to chat about them all the more.

This list is…a varied one. Honestly I should probably stop giving that warning before any form of book list I provide, because it’s starting to get repetitive 😆 BUT if you want to see everything from the myth retellings and freak cosmic events I’m eager to pluck from my shelves – well, here they are spotlighted

Finding more about the past and future of our beloved squad in…Stars Above by Marissa Meyer

stars-above

I FINALLY READ THIS BOOK LET’S SHOUT OUR THANKS TO THE HEAVENS AND SING HALLELUJAH!

Seriously though. I only needed to read this book to finish the Lunar Chronicles series. It took me months, but finally FINALLY I’M DONE.

Which is funny really, considering this was one of my top priorities/anticipates releases and yet when I got it…nope. But here we are today.

Since this is a novella bind-up, the review will be slightly different. I’ll give a rating for each individual novella with a couple of sentences, then at the end give an overall summary and rating.

Let’s talk about Stars Above!

The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee | A futuristic story full of drama and money, distrust and crime

the-thousandth-floor

Oh, how the premise of thing book intrigued me so. I mean, it’s described as a SciFi novel with a Gossip Girl feel to it – how could I not wonder about that?

I actually didn’t think I’d be able to get this book for a very long while, since I’m on a book buying ban basically until Christmas (pray for me), but then the lovely people at SocialBookCo contacted me through their review programme, asking if I would like to review this for them. So of course, I said yes!

This is the 2nd book I’ve reviewed for them, so you’d think I’d have come up with a better way of explaining the site by now – but basically This is a site that compares all the different prices of books from different retailers, showing you where you can buy each book for the cheapest price. And then there’s the reviewing side – If you join their programme, there are opportunities for you to be sent books for free in exchange for an honest review by a given date. So check it out if you’re interested!

But enough with the rambling…

Replica by Lauren Oliver | Giving “there’s two sides to every story” a whole new meaning

Replica

This book was on my radar from the very first second I heard about it. That being after bookcon, when watching booktube videos and seeing the flip book formatting.

I wanted it immediately.

And while I didn’t get it immediately – I didn’t expect to get it until it was released – I DID get it pretty soon after. So that, I was thrilled about.

Fangirling about On The Merits Of Unnaturalness by Samantha Shannon

*All reviews I write are spoiler free*

I know I JUST posted a book review earlier today, but here’s another. I was going to schedule it for some time next week but I just have to share it right this very second.

Now, I heard about this book and became so excited. I’m a HUGE fan of The Bone Season series, and Samantha Shannon is one of my favourite authors. But then I found out that it was being released as an Ebook, and since I can’t read from screens (as I mention in my review policy), I gave up hope on being able to read it.

And then a giveaway came along from Bloomsbury.

A giveaway that I thought I would have absolutely no chance of winning.

A signed physical copy.

So you can pretty much guess how much I fangirled when I found out that I – an unlikely and very surprised fan – had indeed won a signed copy.

I think I scared my friend with how I reacted to be honest! 😀

But anyway…

Winter by Marissa Meyer

Winter

*All reviews I write are spoiler free*

I finally read the last book in The Lunar Chronicles!

Well, sort of. If you don’t count the novellas in Stars Above.

But I’ll get round to those at some point.

As always, my review will be spoiler free, but since this is the 4th book in a series, the synopsis may contain spoilers for the previous books. There will be a warning just before the synopsis, so if you haven’t read the previous books, just skip ahead to my review.

So let’s talk about Winter!

My top 10 books of 2015

Top 10 books of 2015

So now that it’s the end of the year, I figured I’d show you what my Top 10 books of 2015 were. I think it’s going to be difficult to choose just 10!

I’ve written a guest post very similar to this over on Books With Em’s, so you guys should go and check that out!

Top 5 books of 2015

Anyway, I’ll mix this one up a bit so that it’s not exactly the same post. I suppose the guest post can be a sort of…Top 5 favourites from my Top 10 – if that makes any sense.

Now instead of rambling on, time for me to show you my top 10 favourite books of 2015!

Series I have yet to finish

Series I have yet to finish

I have this habit of buying books that are completely unrelated to each other, instead of buying the next book in a series I’ve started to continue on. So I have A LOT of series I haven’t yet finished.

This will be split into two different section: Series where the books have all been released and I’ve just not gotten round to continuing yet, and Series that I am up to date with, but need to wait for the next books to be released to finish.

There will be Goodreads links for the 1st books in the series, if you want to check them out.

So…let’s do this!
