Blue Sun by Tracy Abrey | The story of a stubborn science girl being forced to believe in folklore

blue-sun

A folklore story set in the Isle of Man? Count me in!

And that was probably about as far as my thoughts went when considering whether to accept this review or not. And here we are today 🙂

You know the drill by now…

empire-of-storms

You knew this review was coming.

And you probably know how big a fan I am of everything Sarah J Maas writes, so you can probably guess which side of the love/hate scale this review is on.

But either way. Here’s my review!

The Throne of Glass Colouring Book REVIEW – A very different kind of review, but an interesting one to say the least

throne-of-glass-colouring-book

So you might be thinking something along the lines of “Ashleigh…a review…of a COLOURING book? What?”

I know. It’s different. But there’s a story behind it.

But recently I joined the SocialBookCo Reviewing Programme. This is a site that compares all the different prices of books from different retailers, showing you where you can buy each book for the cheapest price. And then there’s the reviewing side – If you join their programme, there are opportunities for you to be sent books for free in exchange for an honest review by a given date.

That was quite a flimsy summary of the website – I’m not too great at explaining things. But basically, SocialBookCo sent me this colouring book in exchange for a review, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it because I didn’t think I’d get this book for months! So thank you!

Replica by Lauren Oliver | Giving “there’s two sides to every story” a whole new meaning

Replica

This book was on my radar from the very first second I heard about it. That being after bookcon, when watching booktube videos and seeing the flip book formatting.

I wanted it immediately.

And while I didn’t get it immediately – I didn’t expect to get it until it was released – I DID get it pretty soon after. So that, I was thrilled about.

A really interesting plot idea but noticeable lack of emotion in…The Future of the Past by C.S. Morgan

The Future of the Past

I always feel like I have to apologize for not liking a book as much as I’d hoped. Especially when it was sent to me. *sigh* No book is for everyone though, right?

Probably doesn’t help that I was going through a bit of a slump. I’m baring that in mind when it comes to this review.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin | A really strange mix of psychological horror, paranormal, and dystopian?

The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Gradually making my way through this series *cough* at last *cough*

I have the last book ready and raring to go, so hopefully I’ll be finished soon (it’s just a matter of how long it’ll take me to pick up that one now)

But that’s not what we’re here for today.

The Tormented Witch by J.C. Beckham | A fun read…but for me? It was really quite cringey

The Tormented Witch

I honestly don’t really want to write this review. I hate it when reviews aren’t good ones…but I’ve got to be honest. Plus it’s not ALL bad, so…yeah.

Shouting through clown horns and eating an abundance of cheese in…What’s A Girl Gotta Do? by Holly Bourne

What's g girl gotta do

Considering how excited I was to get this book early (Waterstones started selling it before release date, I didn’t have an ARC), it’s a bit ironic that I started actually reading it ON the release day.

Either way, I have it and I’ve read it so here we are.
