It’s a New Year! – Looking back & moving forward

When this post goes up, it’ll be New Year’s Eve here in England. So I’m just here to say…

new year

Happy New Year everybody!

I hope 2016 is an amazing year for all you lovely people!

Thank you all so much for supporting me here on my blog, as well as on any other social media you may follow me on! It definitely means a lot. This blog isn’t about the numbers, it’s about my love for books and my reviews, but you guys following is an added bonus. It makes me feel appreciated, and it’s good to know that my reviews are actually read and enjoyed. It gives me the confidence to carry on, and I always want to improve to make it better for you guys!

I’m looking forward to seeing what the new year brings for this little blog of mine! 😀

So now to look back and move forward…

Looking Back

My year has been a bit all over the place. At the beginning I was doing my first year of A-Levels, which was the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. That was all that pretty much happened for the first half of the year. Then the summer holidays happened. I went on holiday to Scotland, which was one of the best experiences of my life. The entire summer holidays were great. All the stress had gone. But then I got the results back from my A levels and found I’d failed one, and I honestly didn’t know what to do next. But I started up a Journalism course instead, and it was probably one of the best choices I’ve made. There’s less stress involved, and it gave me the idea and chance to start up this blog. I’ve become a much happier person – everyone’s noticed. Without changing course, I wouldn’t be here doing this blog right now!

So just remember guys that when things seem to be at their worse, it’s usually just the time when things can only get better! *My rubbish attempt at being motivational*

Moving Forward (after that random personal bit)

Now here’s a question for you all…

Do any of you guys like to organize things at the end of they year to change it up a bit for the new year?

I do!

And since it’s the end of one year – the start of another – I’ve been spending a while organizing through my social media accounts to make sure everything is in order. The rest of this post is pretty much just an update on what I’ve changed in the last few weeks.

Goodreads

My BIGGEST project for this sort of thing was my Goodreads account. I have a shelf on there for all the books I own, but before a few days ago, this wasn’t accurate. Not all the books I own were logged, and some were under different editions, so my reviews were entered on the wrong version of the book.

So I deleted it.

And then spent HOURS using the automatic scanning on my phone to reshelve all the books I own onto my account. But then I had to sort through over 100 duplicate copies and make sure the reviews were on the right version before deleting them. And then I had to go back through and add ‘read’ dates to the books that didn’t have them, so that my Goodreads challenge for 2015 would be accurate.

It was a lot of hassle, but wow am I glad my Goodreads account is finally sorted!

Feel free to add me as a friend on Goodreads if you haven’t already! I

But it wasn’t just my Goodreads account I sorted through. Oh no no.

I redsigned my blog slightly!

I haven’t had my blog long at all – just a matter of months actually – but it needed brightening up a bit. Plus I moved some widgets around so that it’s easier to see what I’m currently reading, and the preview of my bookstagram is shown. I did write a post to update you all on the changes so I’ll leave a link here: Blog revamp: Changing the design slightly

And finally, my Twitter and Instagram accounts.

My Instagram has been a bookstagram account for ages now, but recently my theme changed. I must have done something right because since then I’ve gained so many more follows, comments and likes! 😀

So come over and say Hi on my bookstagram. I’d LOVE to see you guys there! (Just click on the image above)

And finally, I sorted through the accounts I followed on twitter. Since I’ve had it for years, I used to follow over 1000 accounts, but over half of those were now inactive. Well, they’ve all been sorted through, and now I follow people more like me with similar interests 🙂

This year has been a pretty good year for me, but I’m looking forward to seeing what 2016 brings!

And now that I have everything sorted, I feel like I can jump in all new and organized.

Sorry for this ramble of a post, I just wanted to let you guys know what things have changed over the last few weeks.

Are there any specific posts you’d like to see me do in 2016? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading my blog!
