And I’m sure everyone who knows my blog, twitter, booktube, or instagram are glad for it too, because maybe, just maybe, that means I’ll stop talking about this series quite so much.

I’ve not stopped talking about this series for the entirety of March during my rereads. And now I have a new one, so the fangirl is out in full swing.

I can just never get over how unpredictable this series is. Samantha has said herself that each book takes on a different sort of genre, and so you can never guess where the story is going. Well, she wasn’t joking. I was so hooked in this book, I barely even noticed myself getting through it until I was left crying at the end.

Yes, I cried. Twice. Actually no – three times, because I also cried a few days later while explaining the book to my friend. That’s how invested I am. It’s a little bit ridiculous. But y’know. Go hard or go home.

Now I get to the part where my inability to review books in a series comes in. Because what can I say about this book that I’ve not already said about the first two? I’ve already mentioned how much I love the details of the plot and world. I’ve already raved about how the characters are all such unique personalities and a delight to read about. So…what else?

Well, for one, there’s the world building. In the first two books, we’re based in London. By this book, we know the ins and outs of London, both underground and aboveground. Surely there’s not much more world building to do, right?

WRONG. Because in this book, we visit Manchester and Edinburgh. We even see the tiniest glimpse of Stoke-On-Trent. AND through character’s memories, we also see snapshots into how the “problem” in this world affected Ireland, Bulgaria and Sweden. So it really is WORLD building. And with book 4 planned to be set in Paris, it’s only going to grow. Personally, I found it really interesting. Not many books venture out across the real world. Not many authors would think to tackle the world, rewriting it into a totally different place.

So there’s that. But another thing I wanted to mention – I actually brought it up briefly in my review for The Mime Order – is the diversity. In this series we see gay people, bisexual people, people of different coloured skin tones, people from different countries, and even a transgender woman. Which I am so thrilled about. What’s more, in this world, all these things are just normal. As they should be. It’s not a “coming out” story at all. It’s just so accepting, the diversity is never shown as a problem. I really think we need more books like that.

And so I could keep raving about this book all day. It tugged at every emotion. It kept me flipping the pages at top speed. And yet again, it made me want the next book immediately…only to realise I have to wait a year, again. How I’ll manage, I don’t know.
